Privacy Policy
Applies to this website and to RedCat Brain and RedCat Moments on the supported Apple devices. Last updated: 29 September 2026.
The essentials first: Your ideas, recordings, scans and documents remain in the storage location you choose—on your device or in your cloud. They are not transferred to us and are not kept permanently on our servers. We process only what is necessary for your account, access, billing and usage metering. If you deliberately select an external AI feature, only the content required for that task is transferred for processing. Without that explicit choice, your content is not sent to external AI.

2. Visiting the website
Our hosting provider, IONOS SE, automatically records technical access data such as IP address, time, requested page, transferred data volume, browser and operating system. This is necessary for secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Fonts are hosted on our own server. The site does not use advertising networks or marketing cookies. In the download area, page views and initiated downloads are counted only as aggregate server-side totals, without an email address, stored IP address or individual profile.
The download page does not create a personal download account. Confirmation of beta notices remains in the browser. The website initially follows the browser language; a manual language choice is saved locally in the browser under “redcat.website.language”. We do not use IP-based location or an external translation service for this.
3. RedCat account and access
If you use a RedCat account, we process your email address, technical access data and access status, the selected plan and payment identifiers where applicable, as well as one usage record per external AI request (time, feature, model, volume and cost). This produces the credit display. The text or recording content itself is not stored in this usage record. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
You can request account deletion in the app or by email. Account data, access status and usage metering are then deleted unless statutory retention duties apply. An Apple or Stripe subscription must be cancelled with the provider through which it was purchased.
4. RedCat Moments
Texts, recordings, photos, videos, collections and mood entries are saved in the Moments location you choose. With iCloud, Apple synchronises these files through your Apple account; with local storage, they remain on the relevant device. We cannot access those content files.
Transcription and summaries: You can use Apple processing available on the device. Whether it is entirely local or involves Apple services depends on the device, system version, language and downloaded models. You may alternatively choose RedCat external AI. The selected audio file or the text needed for the requested summary is then sent through our access service to OpenAI. External processing never starts automatically and can be disabled in Settings.
Weather and moon: If you explicitly add weather and allow location access, the necessary location is sent to Apple WeatherKit. Moments stores the returned weather, temperature and time in the entry, not precise GPS coordinates. The moon phase is calculated locally from date and location.
Media and security: Moments may create space-saving copies (M4A audio, resized images and video up to 1080p). If you enable keeping originals in Photos, the app saves an additional copy in Apple Photos, which may sync through iCloud Photos. Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode protects access to the app interface; this does not add separate encryption to the Moments folder or exported PDFs. Backups are written to the folder selected by you.
5. Optional external AI
Only when you expressly start an external AI feature is the content needed for that feature transferred. The provider is OpenAI (OpenAI Ireland Ltd., Dublin; processing may also take place in the United States). Depending on the task, this may be a selected recording, a passage to revise, entries chosen for a review, a question with the relevant knowledge extract, statements for fact-checking or an image description. RedCat does not retain this content as its own archive. Feature, model, volume and cost are recorded for billing and credits.
For transcription, the audio file itself may be transferred to OpenAI. Apple speech recognition may also send audio to Apple depending on the device, language and model. A recording that you only store is not transferred by RedCat.
For internet research and RedCat Check, the query or statement to be checked—not your remaining private text—is sent to Tavily AI in the United States, and only after you start that feature. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Transfers to the United States are based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
6. Purchases
Website and Mac payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Dublin. Stripe receives the data required for payment; we receive the purchased plan and a customer identifier. iPhone purchases are processed by Apple. Apple does not give us the buyer’s postal address. To activate a purchase in the signed-in RedCat account, the app sends Apple-signed transaction and product identifiers to our access service and associates them with that RedCat account.
7. Emails
Login codes and transactional confirmations are sent through Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH, Germany, with EU data centres). Brevo receives the email address, message content and standard delivery information under a data-processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. We do not send advertising or newsletters through this service.

9. Your own storage
Ideas, recordings, images, scanned documents and generated PDFs remain where you choose: on your device, in iCloud or in another folder. We have no access to them. Apple’s privacy policy also applies when using iCloud.
10. Retention
Account data is kept while the account exists and deleted when the account is deleted, unless legal retention obligations apply. Hosting logs are retained only as long as necessary for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or anonymised. Records required for tax purposes, such as invoices, remain for the statutory period.
11. Your rights
You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection under Articles 15–21 GDPR. Contact the address above.
